Abstract

To support aeroacoustic research in Israel, the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology has designed and constructed an anechoic wind tunnel facility with a low-noise anechoic chamber. This unique dualpurpose facility is the first anechoic wind tunnel in Israel. The chamber is fully lined with acoustic wedges to absorb the sound energy and avoid reflection of the sound waves from the walls. The airline is constructed in concrete to dampen vibrations and noise from outside. The wind tunnel has a closed-circuit layout to avoid external interference. The anechoic wind tunnel is designed for low-speed, subsonic, aerodynamic and aeroacoustic studies. Above the cut-off frequency of the chamber, i.e. 150 Hz, the chamber is echo free enclosure. Certification of the anechoic chamber is performed according to ISO 3745:2012 standard, Annex A.
