Abstract

Optical Fiber based point and distributed strain sensing techniques were applied on a specially designed, ULTEM-9085, rapid prototyping wing. The deformed shape of the wing was measured in real time under both prescribed bending and torsion loading followed by dynamic wind tunnel test. The strain to displacements algorithm used was found to be highly suitable for aeroelastic shape sensing.
