Abstract

The application of the aerodynamic-phase-lag off-axis response correction technique to blade-element models of the UH60 helicopter is presented. Frequency domain techniques are used to find the optimal aerodynamic-phase-lag angle for the correlation between the responses of a higher order linearized model for the aircraft and flight test data. Significant improvement in the off-axis response correlation of a nonlinear model is shown. A complete unsteady aerodynamic vortex model is configured and applied to study the influence of various unsteady aerodynamic effects. Least square techniques are used to find the optimal aerodynamic-phase-lag angle and a vortex model is used to study its sensitivity to various rotor parameters.
