Abstract

Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are among the most energetic and mysterious phenomena in our universe. Current space-based GRB detectors are limited by their size, field of view and sensitivity, highlighting the need for development of more advanced instruments. NovaSat is a scientific mission in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) that aims to validate the novel Gamma-ray Burst Localizing Instrument (GALI) [1] in space. In collaboration with the Physics Department at the Technion and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), the project's goal is to create a cost-effective mission to gather and send data on GRB events detected by the GALI detector to the astrophysics community and ground-based telescopes. Additionally, NovaSat aims to provide near real-time GRB alerts and serve as a space-based platform for research and education.
