Abstract

A guidance law algorithm is proposed for the trailing interceptor in a salvo against two maneuvering targets in a wave attack scenario. It is assumed that the trailing interceptor is launched against the trailing threat which is its primary target. However, at a predefined time du-ring the scenario, a decision may be taken to switch the trailing missile towards the leading threat, since the leading interceptor has failed its engagement. The proposed algorithm takes this possibility into account and has to ensure that the switch can be done without excessive effort from the part of the interceptor. The formula's for the guidance algo-rithm are derived based on linearized intercept equations. Numerical simulations are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the guidance algorithm based on a nonlinear kinematic model.
