Abstract

The vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSEL) are employed for optical interconnections, usually as multi-mode sources for reducing the modal noise, as well as the coupling costs. The complex frequency responses due to transverse mode interactions is discussed. The modulation response of small coherent VCSEL arrays serves a high quality bright for optical interconnection schemes with a better transverse mode control, relatively to singular lasers of the same size.
